CQout (pronounced “seek you out,” get it?) is a decent online auction venue and offers good features for both buyers and sellers. However, the options are limited and weak in comparison to the best reviewed online auction services.
CQout does have a relatively large user base, with a host of users and an average of 713,000 auctions listed.
CQout doesn’t charge any listing fees, but does charge final value fees. Items successfully auctioned at CQout.com are subject to a 1.5% final value fee, which is significantly lower than most other online auction sites that charge final value fees.
Listing your item in bold is free and relisting it in a second category only costs 15¢. To have your item featured in a specific category costs $3.50, or you can feature it on the CQout homepage for $11.
Selling at CQout is pretty easy. The CQout selling system includes sales management tools and other tools to make transactions go as smoothly as possible. You are not able to list multiple items in a Dutch auction, but you can list an auction at a fixed price. Sellers are not given the ability to block potentially dangerous bidders, nor can they cancel specific bids. But you can end an auction early if necessary.
CQout realizes that most sellers have experience with other online auction sites, so they make it simple to not only bulk upload your auctions, but also provide an import facility from other auction sites.
CQout strives to make buying easy and efficient. CQout has advanced searching and sorting features so you can find what you’re looking for and browse the results however you want to.
CQout also has wanted auctions, where you can describe a particular item you are looking for and then let sellers “bid” in reverse on how low they are willing to sell the item for. This is particularly useful if you are looking for a hard to find item or want to get the best price sellers are willing to offer.
CQout has a trusted reputation for safeguarding both buyers and sellers. CQout requires that all new sellers offer secure payment methods. The CQout rating system incorporates feedback for buyers and sellers.
“Shill bidding” is when sellers attempt to get higher bids by bidding on their own items using a different identity. CQout has security routines that attempt to detect and deter shill bidding.
CQout is one of the only online auction services we reviewed that has live phone support. They also have email support. The FAQs section is somewhat hard to navigate, but does include the ability to search for terms within the FAQs.
CQout is an okay online auction site, offering several features and a healthy user base. Unfortunately, the user base is pretty small compared to other top reviewed online auction sites , and CQout lacks some additional features and suffers in usability.
